« The first years I missed the cultural life. I missed it and in general we don’t go very often to theaters or cinemas and do stuff like that. Yesterday we had a discussion about that. I miss it because my husband is… let’s say, a worker. When I lived in Albania there was a cultural center in the capital where I could go if I wanted. Maybe in other cities of Albania things were more restricted. But under the communist regime we had opera, ballet, theaters. In Tirana these existed to a certain degree and I was used to this kind of life. In other words I would go, I wouldn’t miss a movie. I would go regularly. The first years after I got married, I missed all that a little bit. This of course had to do with our situation. Not that I didn’t have the chance [to do all these things] in this country. But I wasn’t working. Then we had a baby, we became a family. Somehow I felt I was under great pressure. I had lacks, lacks. Intellectual lacks. »

« Yes, yes, I used to go to the cinema a lot, a lot. Before, when there wasn’t any TV, I would go once or twice a week to see a film. I’ve even visited Sofia to attend the opera! Operetta. You know, theater. Many times theater companies visited the city where I was living. Many times there were concerts. You could find everything there. »
