« How do they see me, when I go to Albania? They see me as a Greek. But I’m not Albanian either (laughing). What they think is that I have a lot of money. That’s what I mean […]. They call me Greek, but I’m not Albanian either. »

Julian (36, Albania )

« Here [in Greece] they are after us because we are Bulgarians in Greece. There [in Bulgaria they are after us because we are Bulgarians in Greece]. What do you make of that? Now, I can give you just a short explanation: "Hey, you! You live in Greece, right? So you’ve got everything! You work, you earn money there. You have money, right? Oh look at you. You got yourself a nice car! But us here… !" That’s the thing. And then here: "Hey you, you came here from Bulgaria and here you’ve got a car and you think you’re so smart? Did you forget how poor you were there before you came here?" This is just a short [explanation]… That’s the thing. That’s the reality. For me. Okay? At least for the eight years I’ve been here. »
