Vasiliv

Vasiliv comes from Bulgaria ; he was born in 1962 at Karnobat (near the city of Burgas) and came in Greece for the first time in 1997. At the time of the interview his worked as a 'Insulation worker (as a company employee but also as a free lancer)'.

Summary:

The interview was conducted in the university building. Vasiliv has two siblings who are both living in Greece now. In Bulgaria his mother was an agronomist and his father was employed in the railway company. Vasiliv himself has graduated from a technical school specialized in radiator and air condition installations. He first came to Greece, and specifically to Volos, with his second wife. Later on he also brought his two sons from his first marriage. Currently, Vasiliv is employed at an insulation company but he also does insulation as a freelancer. The main issues discussed in his interview concern: his childhood and agricultural work, the labor regime under communism, his working experience in Russia as a guest worker during the communist period, the fall of communism and the transition period in Bulgaria, the labor regime in the post-communist period in Bulgaria, his decision to migrate and his arrival in Greece, his first period of settlement in Greece and his working experiences at that time, his present working experience, his future plans, the present-day situation in Bulgaria and Vasiliv´s feelings and views on it.
