Mapping the migrant population in the prefecture of Magnesia

Statistical Data

The following data come from the Prefecture of Magnesia.

  1. Registered foreigners in the records of the Employment and Statistics Department of the Prefecture of Magnesia: 8564
  2. Foreigners' applications for a work permit between 01-01-2001 and 01-09-2004: 18782
(This concerns applications for the granting of an initial work permit, as well as for a renewal of the work permit. This means that a foreigner possibly may have submitted 3 applications in a single year: one for issuing a work permit for the first time and two for its renewal. Thus, within a year 3 permits might be issued for the same person.)
  3. Number of work permits granted between 01-01-2001 and 01-09-2004: 18445
  4. Applications that were rejected for different reasons (lack of supporting documents, permit revocations, etc.): 337 (approximately)
  5. Number of foreigners by sex: men 6229, women 1733
