In order to locate informants we used three different methods:

• Exploiting the networks to which the members of the research group had already gained access during earlier research
• Using the networks that were established in the course of the pilot interviews
• Building new networks in the course of fieldwork in Volos and with the help of members of the two migrant community organizations

Afterward, we conducted the interviews and undertook two short research trips to Albania and Bulgaria (January 2005 – December 2006).
