Fatmir

Fatmir comes from Albania ; he was born in 1973 at Erseka and came in Greece for the first time in 1990. At the time of the interview his worked as a 'Construction worker'.

Summary:

Fatmir came to Greece on foot. His journey lasted eleven days. At the time of the interview, he lived in Volos with his parents and his brother´s family. He recently got married to a girl from Albania and he plans to bring her to Greece. Some of the main issues discussed in the interview concern: his decision and motivations to migrate to Greece, his fears and difficulties during the migration journey, the bad conditions of work during the time when he was undocumented and the improvement of work and life conditions after his legalization, the fear of deportation, the differences between Greek and Albanian men, the ways media shape public opinion on migrants, gender relations and marriage, the concept of pride, and the responsibility he bears in taking care of his parents.
