Elena comes from Bulgaria ; she was born in 1946 at Gabrovo and came in Greece for the first time in 2003. At the time of the interview her worked as a 'Live-in domestic helper'.

The interview was conducted in the university building. Elena is married and she has two children. In Bulgaria she was a teacher but after she retired she decided to come to Greece. She is here without her family and she works as a live-in caregiver for an elderly lady. Elena does not have a legal residence permit and so she hasn´t been able to visit her country since she left. Some of the main issues discussed in the interview concern: her severe criticism of the communist regime and its ideology, her and her family´s bad experiences with the Communist Party, her relationship with her husband, her job as a teacher, her journey to Greece, her working experiences in the different households where she has been employed as a live-in caregiver and her relations with the elderly lady she is now taking care of.
