Katia

Katia comes from Albania ; she was born in 1958 at Durres and came in Greece for the first time in 1994. At the time of the interview her worked as a 'Domestic helper'.

Summary:

The interview was conducted at the informant´s home. Katia is married and has two children. In Albania she was a teacher. Her husband was the first to come to Greece. In 1994 Ifigenia joined him with their two children. She immediately found a job as a domestic helper. During the interview she talks about life in Albania during the communist period, her student years, the difficulties of the first settlement period in Greece, her relations with Greek people, religion, the Greek state´s policy towards migrants, the possibility of her return to Albania.
