Summary:

The interview was conducted in the university building. Drita is single and lives with her family in Volos. She came to Greece for the first time in 1998, after completing her second year of studies in the School of Philosophy in the University of Gjirokaster. She stayed in Greece for eight months and then she decided to return to Albania and continue her studies. Two years later she came to Greece again. Drita does not have a legal residence and work permit and, to a certain degree due to this fact, she only works occasionally. Some of the main issues discussed in the interview concern: her mother´s decision to come to Greece on her own, the way Drita and her family who remained behind experienced her absence, Drita´s decision also to migrate to Greece, her first working experience as a live-in domestic helper with a rich family in Athens, her coming to Volos, the different jobs she has done up to present, the fact that she does not have a work and residence permit and the consequences of this for finding a job and for her social life in general.
