Zana

Zana comes from Albania ; she was born in 1988 at Tepelen and came in Greece for the first time in 2000. At the time of the interview her worked as a 'A hairdresser´s apprentice'.

Summary:

The interview was conducted at the researcher´s home. Zana came to Greece with her family, which is comprised of five members. Currently, she is working in a hair dresser´s salon and in the evenings she attends hairdressing classes. Some of the main issues discussed in the interview concern: her friends and leisure activities; her parents´ strict control of her daily life; the social control exercised on young girls by the Albanian migrant community living in Volos; issues of honor, virginity and gender relations; her relations with the Evangelical church; her ties to her home country, and her attitudes about Albanian society during her return trips.
