Olga

Olga comes from Bulgaria ; she was born in 1971 at Plovdiv and came in Greece for the first time in 2000. At the time of the interview her worked as a 'Barwoman'.

Summary:

The interview was conducted at the informant´s home. Olga is 34 years old and divorced. She has three children who live in Bulgaria. In Bulgaria Olga worked as a secretary in various companies. In 2000 she came to Greece to visit her mother and a friend who was working in Volos. These two women convinced Olga to stay in Greece. Now she is a barwoman. Some of the main issues discussed in the interview concern her working experiences both in Bulgaria and in Greece, the positive and negative aspects of communism, religion during communism, marriage and gender relations, the Greek people´s negative image of Bulgaria, racism towards migrants, the role that the family plays in her life.
